Peace on Earth

We long to see peace on earth – wholeness to pervade the brokenness and division of our world and of our city. Jesus came as a baby to accomplish what we are unable to do by our strategy or might. In his incarnation and subsequent crucifixion and resurrection he was providing a path to wholeness, to peace.

Each December, we give away every dollar as we long for our city and world to be transformed by the birth of Jesus. This Advent we will celebrate the coming of Jesus by actively pursuing the shalom of our city by giving to the vision of Together for the City – the collaborative kingdom outpost that was (and Lord-willing will be!) the facility that housed Seven Mile Road.

In order to give generously towards this vision, we are aiming to raise $700,000 in the month of December. Half of our donations will go to TFC 1.0 non-profit partners, whose stories you will hear about during the month of December. The other half will go to the TFC 2.0 vision, which will enable us to re-create this platform for shalom in our city.

We aim to celebrate the birth of Jesus in ways that delight his heart and are excited about what is in store this December!

TFC 1.0 Non-Profit Partners:

This year, half of our Advent dollars will go directly to supporting our six non-profit partners that co-labored alongside us at our original Together for the City campus: Every Shelter, Houston Welcomes Refugees, Houston Responds, Sharpen Recovery, The Riverside Project, and Houston Church Planting Network (HCPN).

We thank God for the ways he is using these organizations to bring his shalom to our city and world!

REFUGEES

Every Shelter is a non-profit organization designing shelter solutions for refugees. They are on a mission to build a localized refugee-aid ecosystem centered around the needs, preferences, and aspirations of refugees.

Houston Welcomes Refugees helps to ease the resettlement process for refugees coming to Houston by mobilizing invested, caring volunteers, fostering hope amidst crisis. HWR teaches Houstonians to welcome refugees with compassion, hope, and honor as they resettle and start a new life in Houston.

MERCY + JUSTICE NEEDS

Houston Responds has identified that churches often work in silos, disconnected from each other and limiting the impact they can make. They exist to unite and mobilize churches and partners to multiply community impact.

Sharpen Recovery is on a mission to saturate the city with sober living spaces for the glory of God. They offer affordable, quality substance abuse recovery homes for men and women.

The Riverside Project is a collaborative network of churches, nonprofits, agencies, and passionate individuals who are working together to transform the foster care system in Houston. Through an initiative called the Response Network, The Riverside Project works with the Department of Family and Protective Services to identify immediate needs of vulnerable families in our community and connect those families to churches willing to serve.

CHURCH PLANTING

The Houston Church Planting Network is a network of networks committed to strengthening church planters to multiply churches to reach every man, woman, and child in the greater Houston region. Through our partnership with HCPN, Seven Mile Road has played an integral in raising up and sending out church planters in our city.
