City-Wide Prayer & Fasting | March 5 - April 20
We are overjoyed to partner with the Houston Church Planting Network (HCPN) and churches across our city as we engage in Awaken Houston - an annual season of city-wide prayer and fasting. Throughout this time, we will participate in daily devotionals written by our city's pastors and leaders, engage in intentional and personal fasting, and join in corporate prayer.
The theme for 2025 is The Dead Shall Rise. Churches participating in the shared sermon series will explore key moments in the Bible where the dead are raised, leading up to the celebration of Easter and the resurrection of Jesus.
The devotional and prayer guide will also center around this theme, with the prayer that we will witness the "dead in Christ" spiritually transformed into new life. Each week will highlight a specific sub-theme, guiding our reflections and prayers through this season of renewal. The weekly sub-themes are as follows:
Week 1 (March 5th–9th): No One is Too Far Away!
Week 2 (March 10th–16th): In Response to Faith-Filled Request!
Week 3 (March 17th–23rd): Motivated by Jesus’ Compassion!
Week 4 (March 24th–30th): Empowered By His Word
Week 5 (March 31st–April 6th): It is Never Too Late!
Week 6 (April 7th–13th): Unlocked by His Death!
Week 7 (April 14th–20th): Secured by His Life!
What is Awaken Houston?
Awaken Houston is a city-wide movement of prayer, fasting, and preaching, uniting the church to seek personal renewal, revival within our churches, and a spiritual awakening across Greater Houston. This year, we are calling 100,000 Houstonians to pray daily, with the bold aim of seeing 1,000 baptisms in the month of April.

Who is Awaken Houston for?
Awaken Houston is for any church and all followers of Jesus who are willing to join in prayer and fasting alongside others throughout Greater Houston. This movement is open to individuals, congregations, and ministries who feel called to unite in seeking God’s renewal and revival during the Lenten season, from March 5 to April 20. Whether you’re new to prayer and fasting or have a seasoned practice, we invite you to be part of this city-wide journey.
What is fasting?
Christian fasting is the practice of intentionally going without food, or other comforts, for a set time with a specific spiritual purpose. In the context of Awaken Houston, fasting is an opportunity to unite in prayer and reflection, seeking God's renewal and revival for ourselves, our churches, and Greater Houston. It’s not about deprivation, but about creating space to hear from God, realign our hearts, and deepen our dependence on Him. Through fasting, we come together as a city to humbly ask for spiritual transformation, both personally and across our communities.
